Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day ||  joy of life

With Mother’s Day being a few days away, I thought it would be appropriate to share some love with all you mamas out there. I am filled with so much admiration for other mothers, especially my own. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve looked forward to being a mom.  But, holy cow you guys, I’ve to admit that I never realized how difficult it would be. It’s not as easy as it looks (duh! you already know this) but motherhood brings so much joy to my life, and in no way would I change that for anything.

I have learned that it’s all about balancing, and trust me I fail, oh I fail majorily but I wanted to share some things motherhood has taught me over the past three years….

It’s not a competition. It is so easy to compare yourself to other moms, scrolling through the perfect looking Instagram feeds thinking how they have it all together,  and how their life is just put together. They all seem happy, and loving on each other.  Well, it’s not always as pictured. Trust me. Reality is far from what Instagram or any social media shows. So don’t compare yourself to other moms. Do you. Be you.

Letting it go. So your house may not be as clean, and there may or may not be toys all over. But letting go for your sanity is much needed. It’s a challenging but rewarding process. You need to pick your battles, and if you really cannot stand the chaos then tidy up real quick and go back to spending one on one time with your babies. All that times goes by so fast, so savor those moments and forget the housework....

It’s ok to just Be. On those days when the most you accomplish is taking a shower and feeding your kids, understand that it is ok. All it matters is that they will forever know how much they are loved, and how their mama is always there.img_9640

Being a Super Mom. Your idea of being a super mom is probably based on that perfect Instagram feed that you came across, that mom that appears to meet all her work deadlines, and spends all the time in the world with her kids, has a perfect house and perhaps cooks every meal – but being a super mom is not that. It’s a balancing act. You will be surprised how little it takes for your kids to think that you’re the best mom in the whole world and to them you are a super mom. The other day while grocery shopping Vasilije asked if he could get pasta so he can cook, and I said of course. That ear to ear smile he gave me, was worth everything. It made my day to see how happy he was.

Love yourself. It taught me that I matter too, and that when my kids watched me I wanted them to see a happy mom not a resentful one. That unless I could come to a place of loving myself, I wouldn’t be able to offer my family the tenderness and support they needed from me.

Get a planner. Write it out. Sometimes having so much in your head feels like a tornado, but writing things out allows you to organize yourself and maximize your time. You don’t want a million things running through your mind when you’re spending time with your kids, so write it out and make a schedule. If routine works for you, then pick a day of the week when you sit down for 10-15 minutes to write things out. Make it work for you. Your time is valuable, spend it where it’s most appropriate. And to me, that means spending the most time with my boys.

For all you new (and not new)  mamas out there, you need to know one thing: YOU ARE A GOOD MAMA! You’ve no idea how good you’re at what you do, despite the sleepless nights, despite the gazillion diaper changes a day, the constant breastfeeding, those stretch marks you keep seeing, the struggle to get back to your pre-pregnancy weight, the toddler tantrums, the messy house with toys just hanging everywhere, juggling and trying to balance your life – you are so good at what you do.  Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

You’re not alone, this too shall pass. They grow up, and you tend to miss certain moments.

“The days are LONG, but the years are SHORT.” – Gretchen Rubin

So on this Mother’s Day,  show yourself some love and treat yourself. Although in my eyes every day is a Mother’s Day, but because we cannot make every day as special, make this day especially yours and do something for yourself – do something that you love whether it involves your children/husband or just some you time away from everyone and everything. So I came across this necklace from Vici Collection and fell in love – this is my Mother’s Day gift.

Mommy’s first-born is a total gentleman 🙂

This is one of my favorite Motherhood quotes that I came across on Pintrest –

Is a choice you make everyday,

to put someone else’s happiness

and well being ahead of your own,

to teach the hard lessons,

to do the right thing

even when you’re not sure what

the right thing is…..

and to forgive yourself, over, and over

again for doing everything wrong.

I want 4 kids! So you know how you know when you’re done having kids? Well, I am not feeling that. I want more kids. I want three or four. It sounds so right. I love the insanity, the chaos, the joy, love it all.

I’ve been feeling lately like I do everything wrong.Transitioning to 2 kids has not been that easy for me and I cry almost every night. Sometimes because I’m tired, others because breastfeeding has been challenging this time, others because I was short tempered with my oldest that day.

I love that you know for sure you want more kids and love it’re my hero!! Lol…I don’t think I’m going for more. I adore my kids and being home with them is all I always wanted but I truly feel that I’m done having kids.
