Why I joined Young Living Essential Oils?

I signed up for Young Living just a few days ago, but I have been researching essential oils for a while now.

Why did I join?

Short answer. For all the health benefits.

Long answer. Keep reading.

Most of you know I made a conscious decision to switch to safer products over a year now and we have since been living a non-toxic lifestyle. You can read more about it in these two blog posts — Why I joined Beautycounter and threw out all my skincare and makeup out and How we transitioned our home to all non toxic products in just a few steps. It is much easier than you think.

Living a healthy lifestyle has always been important to me, but it’s not until I sat down and start going through all the products in our home and their ingredients that I realized how important it is to have clean, safe products in our home. The products that you are constantly using to clean your floors, your table, the kids toys, etc. are all the things I would think about and then say. Omg! My kids are inhaling these chemicals! My kids are eating off of these tables (sometimes floors haha!) and they are exposed to everything I am trying to protect them from.

So, why essential oils?

I wanted a natural way to support our immune system, a natural way to relief pain and aches, like when we have a headache or feel sluggish or when the kids have a tummy ache. I wanted a healthy gut, and an energized body. I wanted a natural way for our family to stay healthy and I saw it all in the essential oils.

We are approaching the cold and flu season and it can be hard with four little ones to keep them from getting sick.

Each essential oil serves a purpose. They are:
  • antibacterial
  • antiviral
  • anti-inflammatory
  • disinfectant
  • help with digestion
  • healing wounds
  • strengthen immune system
  • and so much more

My husband will get a headache and reach for his over the counter medicine. I always cringe seeing him do that. The kids will get a runny nose, start to cough, feel congested, not be able to sleep due to air quality in our home, and so many other things just to name a few why I wanted to incorporate essential oils into our lives.

And, to be honest all this time that I have looked into essential oils I have never seen a comment from anyone that said they regret getting into essential oils. Have you?

Why did I pick Young Living?

I picked Young Living because I support their mission as a company, their transparency to the community and for their promise of seed to seal guarantee. Their oils are pure (seed to seal) and not adulterated like so many others. I told myself that if I am going to give essential oils a try, they have to be pure and it has to be natural. I pride myself in my choices, and I am happy to share everything with you as well but I always urge everyone to do their own research too.

What Young Living Essential Oils did I get?

I got the premium starter kit with the Desert Mist diffuser. I also got the little oilers for the kids. I got a few extra rollers and essential oils in addition to those.

You get these oils to start with if you choose the premium starter kit:

Lemon, Lavender, Peppermint, DiGize, Thieves, Copaiba, PanAway, Raven, Citrus Fresh, Frankincense.

You can read about each of these oils and how to use them through this Young Living guide as well. I plan on sharing how we use them at home.

You can enroll with my member number: 25675723 just make sure you type in the “Enroller” and “Sponsor” field.

Young Living just launched their little oilers and I grabbed those as well for the kids. You can diffuse them or you can apply directly. They couldn’t have launched them at a better time, if you ask me since the kids are quick to pick up on colds first. I am excited to give these a try for the kids.

Thieves Cleaner

I hear Thieves is the best cleaner out there. I have been using mine for a little over a week now (my Young Living Mentor Geneva sent it to me) and it has become my go to cleaner. I have only been using it for a little while but cannot tell you enough good things about it. I cannot believe that one bottle can clean just about everything so well — glass, tables, countertops, etc.

Young Living Essential Rewards

I also signed up for the Essential Rewards (which you don’t have to) but I know I’ll be buying more so might as well get rewards for the purchase. You get 10-25% credit back on your purchases to use towards a future purchase. It’s something you can cancel anytime, kind of a month to month deal.

Become a Wholesale Member to save the most

Essential oils are expensive and that’s the truth. Everything that’s natural and organic is more expensive, just how it is. But you can become a wholesale member to save a lot of money.

By signing up as a wholesale member you get 24% off retailer prices which is a no brainer for me.

You can enroll with me, just make sure the member number 25675723 appears in both the “Enroller” and “Sponsor ID” fields. Of course, anytime anyone enrolls through my member number I get credit (commission) for it. I always feel the need to disclose that to you guys, because being transparent is important to me.

I should also disclose that when you sign up to become a wholesale member you are not signing up to sell the oils, you only get the benefits of wholesale discount. Think of it like your Costco or Sam’s Club membership.

All in all, I am so excited to give essential oils a try and incorporate them into our every day lives. The reason I haven’t tried them before is because I felt overwhelmed with so many oils haha! But, the starter kit gives you the most popular oils and you cannot go wrong with them. It took me a year to give them a try, hopefully it won’t take you that long. I’ll share an update once I start using them and how it has been for our family.

Are you and your family using essential oils? Tell me your favorite blends.
